Franklin Technology Center Community Education is pleased to offer online registration for our classes. We offer many lifelong learning opportunities and activities for inquisitive people of all ages. Whether training for a job or career or for personal enrichment, there are a variety of classes just waiting for you! 

Browse through our offering of community education classes at your leisure and register for classes at your convenience. Remember to register early as some classes fill quickly. For career training, click on the "full-time career training" link on the left of this page. 

Registration is Easy!

You may securely register online by using your Visa or MasterCard debit or credit card for payment. Just select the class or classes you want to register for then make your payment...it's that easy. If you prefer to pay by another method or in person you may visit our Community Education office at 2020 Iowa Avenue in Joplin.  Should you encounter any problems with registration or need to contact us for any reason please call 417-625-5269.

Healthcare
Phlebotomy/Clinical Laboratory Technician

Successful completion of this class entitles the student to a Certificate of Completion from Franklin Technology Center, verifying the student is prepared for an entry-level Phlebotomy or Clinical Laboratory technician position. Topics include routine phlebotomy, phlebotomy in the health care setting, pediatric and infant phlebotomy, and infection control. Students will learn to perform venipuncture, finger sticks, special collection procedures, and laboratory specimens. Course includes basic anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, EKG applications, vital signs, dealing with death and dying, basic first aid, and CPR with certification. Students must provide copy of the following documents to instructor the first night of class: proof of age (minimum 18 years), high school diploma or GED, results of current T.B. test. Students are required to wear scrubs to class. Book fee is included. Payment option is available.



Phlebotomy/Clinical Laboratory Technician

Certified Nurses Assistant

Become a Certified Nursing Assistant and begin your career in the high demand field of nursing. This 75-hour classroom plus 100 supervised clinical training hours course is approved by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. Students successfully completing the course will be eligible to test for certification and qualify for employment in a long-term care facility (certification exam fees are not included).  A copy of current Tuberculosis test must be provided to instructor and registry on the Missouri Family Care Safety Registry prior to beginning clinical training are required (form for registry will be provided at first class). Students are required to wear scrubs to class and during clinical training. Payment plan is available.  Attendance at every class session is required

Beginning Computer For Seniors

This course is designed for the absolute beginner and will start with turning on the computer and learn basic skills regarding the use of computer hardware, such as the printer, mouse, monitor, and keyboard. This class will emphasize hands-on computer learning designed to make you feel more comfortable using a computer. Learn proper techniques for using your computer keyboard/mouse and build your speed.

Drawing For Seniors

Senior citizens will appreciate this introduction to art through use of pencils in this fun 'learn-to-draw' class. Students will get tips on balance, shading techniques and work on basic drawing projects in a relaxed atmosphere. Bring a 2B, 3B, 4B, and 5B pencil, drawing or sketch pad, kneaded eraser and gum eraser, and a cloth to wipe your hands.

Becoming Familiar With Digital Camera For Seniors

Feeling overwhelmed with your digital camera? Learn to use your camera with more confidence. Learn how to get it set up and take your own pictures. Discuss proper camera settings and receive fun tips to take better photos. Bring your digital camera, owner's manual, storage media, and a notepad to the first class.

Learn how to create and format charts, worksheets and tables quicker and easier using the new tools and views in Excel 2007.  Learn how to use the Ribbon, Command Tabs and Command Sets, Galleries, Contextual Tabs, Live Preview, the Quick Access Toolbar, Dialog Box Launcher and Mini Toolbar.

Students will be introduced to one of the nation's leading bookkeeping software packages.  User-friendly Centers including vendors, customers, and banking will be covered with hands-on training and instruction.  Steps for accurately accounting for business transactions and proper financial reports will also be covered. (Payroll not included).
